Frequently the focus of
cosmetic improvement is the face.
Yet, one of the most age-telling body features is our hands. As
we age, our hands lose firmness and plumpness and begin to look bony and
fragile....with vein and joint
protrusion, thin crepey skin texture and often they've become flecked
with brown spots from sun exposure.
Combating the aging hand
syndrome takes more than hand cream (though that simple step does make a
difference). The latest technology has given us a set of procedures that
will have similar effects as those we have been able to accomplish for
the face.

Complete Hand Rejuvenation is a combination process which
includes at its core Radiesse or Sculptra. Patients whose hands
are pigmented with sun or "age" spots may choose be pre-treated with the
AlexLazr to remove brown spots
Radiesse
Radiesse injections
immediately re-plump and replenish volume to the back of the hands to
provide a supple and youthful appearance instantly. Placed beneath the skin,
Radiesse raises the skin level so that tendons, joints and veins lose
their prominence.
Radiesse
provides instant and durable long lasting results.
See the Radiesse website.
Because Radiesse provides
a scaffolding for collagen-building, the body's own collagen
interweaving into this structure keeps the skin feeling softly natural
and smooth.
Sculptra
While Radiesse provides an instant effect, Sculptra's action delivers
results over time by inducing your own collagen regeneration. The actual
amount of Sculptra material placed in your skin is very minute. The
final effects come about in 3 to 4 months and at that point is almost
exclusively your own natural collagen.

AlexLazr for Age Spots
and Pigmentation
If your hands are
affected by "b>age spots" or "liver spots&", the AlexLazr is
used to break up this pigment so the body can eliminate it. This laser
seeks out darker pigment and fragments the pigment particles. As they
are reduced to ultra-microscopic size, these dark pigment cells quickly
surface and are both eliminated by the body's clean up cells as well as
by the natural turnover of epidermal tissue.
Your hands will need to
be protected from future sun damage (the main culprit in all unwanted
pigmentation) by regular use of sun protection. Persistent
use of sunscreen is a necessary step, no matter what cosmetic procedure
your choose. Dermaceutical medical grade serums provide additional
anti-aging support.
The Process
-
Brown Spot Removal
- if you have spots or brown patches, you will first have treatments
with the AlexLazr to remove these aging collections of pigment.
-
Volume Replenishment
- You may opt for the instant results of Radiesse or choose the
collagen stimulator Sculptra, which over time promotes your own
collagen as the "filler".
-
Volume Replenishment
- Typical requirements are a total of 1 Radiesse syringes per hand to
attain a full smooth replacement of the cushioning on the back of the hands. In some
instances an extra syringe is required (total 3) if your hands have lost substantial
mounts of their natural fat layer or have a very prominent bony appearance. Men may require up to 2 syringes if their hands are large.
-
Topical serums,
Bionect and Cellular Rejuvenation Serum, with hyaluronic acid and
tissue growth factors, augment the skin's cell hydration and surface
smoothness.
Immediately you will have
hands that are well on their way to looking years younger.

Topical and Other "Low-Tech" Treatments
Although spot removal and volume replenishment is an ideal anti-aging
hand rejuvenation process, not everyone is able to take advantage of
rejuvenation programs. What are some low-tech
alternatives?
Chemical peels will reap
a minor to modest improvement in skin texture and pigmentation. The new
SilkPeel is a microdermabrasion infusion treatment that can also
improve skin texture and has zero downtime. Prescription retinoids like
Avage can also be helpful as well as
Cosmelan for pigmentation.
See How Radiesse Works.
Radiesse
has proven to be a very versatile facial contouring product and has
demonstrated durable augmentation in areas such as chin and cheek where
a larger volume is required. It maintains a soft, natural feel and takes
on the characteristics of the surrounding skin tissue.
Results typically last 1 - 2
years.
Radiesse does not require allergy testing. Radiesse is a safe, effective
and non-surgical treatment, which provides immediate smoothing of
wrinkles, scars and the replenishment of volume loss.
Dr. Pilest is one of only 86 physicians throughout the country who
serve as a member of the Medical Education Faculty for Radiesse. As a
specially selected MEF, he is responsible for training other physicians
in the use of Bioform's Radiesse long-term injectable product
The microspheres of CaHA
have been shown to last up to seven years clinically. Radiesse should
provide a long lasting correction, however individual results may vary,
affected by age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity.
