"I sailed through my interview - looking refreshed after my treatments. The interviewer said he liked hiring younger people. As it turns out, I'm older than he is! Thank you! " Rebecca H, age 52, Fraxel and Dysport

Shaping and Firming Problem Areas with Velashape™
Age, pregnancy and weight gain are the biggest contributors to cellulite, but it seems to affect nearly all women and some men. Approximately 80 per cent of women have some degree of cellulite, a result of concentrated fat cells that leave a rippling effect on the skin, which is often compared to an orange peel.
It is typically most pronounced around the thighs, hips and buttocks of women. You do not need to be overweight or a certain age to have cellulite. Even very young and very thin women are affected.
VelaShape is the 1st FDA-cleared non-invasive medical solution for circumferential reduction* and the 1st FDA class II cleared platform for cellulite reduction.
Clinically proven results are visible in as few as 4 treatments. The safety and effectiveness of the technology of the VelaShape and first generation Velasmooth systems have been demonstrated in both multi-center clinical trials and in millions of independent treatments performed on patients around the world.
The results of a recent study show:
In a multi-center study, 85% of the treated areas have reported circumferences reduction of thighs of at least 1cm; ranging up to 7.2cm in reduction.
After VelaShape Treatment:
VelaShape utilizes the revolutionary elos (electro-optical synergy) combined energy technology by Syneron Medical. By using Bi-Polar Radio Frequency and Infrared Light — plus tissue mobilization combined with suction, the appearance of cellulite is reduced and problem areas are re-contoured. Many women find VelaShape to be a viable alternative to liposuction as a means of contouring upper thighs and buttocks. An alternative single treatment procedure is Thermage CL.
What causes Cellulite?
Cellulite develops in the body when fat is deposited immediately below the dermis and contained in fat chambers that can become swollen. As the fat cells grow in size, surrounding tissue becomes compressed and hardened, making blood circulation more difficult and trapping fluids. This causes reduced elasticity of the adipose tissue, producing an undesirable tension between the layers. The resulting depression of connective tissue anchor points creates the appearance of cellulite.
How does VelaShape get rid of cellulite?
The machine uses light and radio frequency to heat up fat cells, breaking them apart and sending them to the lymph nodes for the body to dispose of naturally. The Velashape also uses suction to gently smooth the skin during treatment so the light and radio frequency are delivered uniformly. Lymphatic drainage further decreases the size of fat cell chambers.
By reducing the number and size of fat cells and affecting the intra-fat structure, the treated area becomes smoother and more elastic. The radio frequency also causes a mild contraction that visually lifts and firms the area, especially noticeable in the buttocks.
Velashape in conjunction with Mesotherapy offers even better results. Dr. Pilest may recommend that you use both therapies or the newest Thermage Cellulite single treatment to get the most benefits and most pronounced smoothing and contouring of the skin.
"This combined 3-part treatment offers the most advanced method of circumferential reduction on the market today."
How much improvement can I expect?
All patients in the FDA studies demonstrated improvement in cellulite appearance as well as reduction in thigh circumference with an average reduction of nearly 2 centimeters in thigh circumference.
What's a VelaShape treatment like?
You'll lie on a table for your treatment. Your technician will pass the VelaShape hand piece over the area with the cellulite. This may be repeated a number of times. You will feel a strong massaging action of the suction and possibly some warmth as the radio frequency penetrates to the fat layer in your skin. Since this is a medical treatment for cellulite, and far beyond the ineffective spa-type procedures, there is typically some level of minor discomfort. The most effective levels of treatment with the best response potential may create some temporary (and expected) bruising.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies for each individual, but typically a series of 6, performed once a week for 6 weeks, offers measurable as well as visual improvement. Each treatment may last up to 75 minutes depending on the number of areas treated. Note - With the new smaller treatment handpiece, smaller areas around the knees, the bra line or arms can benefit from VelaShape.
How is VelaShape different from other cellulite machines?
Other types of cellulite reduction equipment offered only massage and suction, rendering it far less effective. Since the infrared light and radio frequency of Velashape actually heat the fat cells, the effect is one of dispersal and removal of the cells - not simply a breaking up of some of the hardened tissue.
Is there downtime?
No. Syneron's VelaShape requires no time "off". You may return to your regular activities immediately.
