Radiesse is a high-viscosity filler with longer term action than Hyaluronic gels, natural elasticity, and collagen-stimulating power. For dermal support to improve facial shape, Radiesse has remarkable staying power. The tiny microspheres – made of a calcium-based material – provide a scaffolding into which your body’s own tissue can grow and maintain the microspheres in place.
Because of the density of Radiesse, it is used often to alter the shape the nose, augment the chin or cheekbone area and is used to provide a more masculine jawline for men. Once injected, it feels perfectly natural and no one would suspect you have had filler injected. Radiesse “degrades” much more slowly than hyaluronic gel fillers and thus can provide improvements up to 18 months.

Elite Providers are a select group of experienced providers who have achieved an exceptional level of Radiesse experience. Medical Education Faculty members are physician leaders in the education and practice of facial aesthetics who are expert Radiesse injectors in a variety of aesthetic applications. Dr. Pilest has obtained the exclusive Black Card Expert Physician Award. Using state-of-the-art injection techniques, Dr. Pilest is performing Radiesse corrections with microcannula, removing the need for repeated needle sticks. Cannulas are tiny needle-like devices that have a round tip.
Radiesse consists of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in gel (carboxymethylcellulose).
Because calcium hydroxylapatite is a normal constituent of bone, it should not elicit a chronic inflammatory or immune response. The microspheres of CaHA have been shown to last up to seven years clinically. Radiesse should provide a long-lasting correction, however individual results may vary, affected by age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity.
Radiesse is injected as most other fillers but some areas can be injected more deeply for structural support.
Injection pain is minimized by the use of smooth tip microcannulas and an integrated anesthetic. Following the procedure, our Irvine Radiesse patients may immediately return back to daily activities, however, treatment sights may be swollen for 1-2 days. There is also a small potential for bruising at the injection site, which may be covered with makeup.
Depending on the areas treated, most of the correction may last for many months, or even years. Dr. Pilest’s Orange County Radiesse patients usually see results that last between 9 to 12 months. Touch up treatments may be necessary to maintain the desired correction.
Restylane, Juvederm, Belotero or other dermal fillers may be used as layers to fill the more superficial lines and wrinkles. There is no restriction on using additional fillers. Radiesse is not used in our office for lip augmentation to prevent the possibility of nodules which could form in the lip.

Avoid sun exposure for 4-6 weeks before treatment, and again after treatment until your physician allows it.
Care should be taken in the first few days following treatments to avoid scrubbing or rinsing the treated area with abrasive skin cleansers.
