Restylane-L™ provides instant and long-lasting wrinkle correction with built-in numbing of lidocaine.
It is an FDA approved cosmetic dermal filler designed to restore volume and fullness to the skin. The Restylane multi-use product line is used for fine to moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds of all types, from the fine lines around the lips to deep nasolabial folds. Restylane’s sister filler, Perlane (now Restylane Lyft), acts as more of a mid-level dermal filler. At Total Dermatology, we strive to deliver the best Restylane Irvine has to offer.

A highly versatile filler.
Restylane can also help increase fullness and accentuation of the lips, define the lip line, fill scars and plump up facial areas that have lost their youthful appearance. One very common instance of “facial deflation” is the area under the eyes that become hollow, creating a worn-out, tired look. Restylane or other dermal injection products may be a viable solution for:
Dr. Pilest is a Platinum Restylane provider, which places him among the top 5% of Restylane physicians in the entire country.
Our Irvine Restylane patient treatments are performed with only a few needle insertions. Dr. Pilest uses smooth tipped micro cannulas. These tiny tubes are flexible and have a rounded tip. This makes the placement of your filler all but imperceptible. You’ll have the least discomfort and the least amount of bruising with cannulas. Read more about the use of micro cannulas here. Worldwide, Restylane has been used in over 11 million treatments.
Natural Enhancement
Restylane is the most used filler product in our office for undereye hollowing. A simple injection into the tear trough area with a cannula (not needles) can lessen the tired-looking appearance under-eye hollows creates. The result is immediate, producing a long-lasting, natural enhancement, gentle and safe to the skin.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that is found throughout your body. It gives volume to the skin, lubricates the joints and gives the eyes their shape. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is stabilized for a long duration and is not of animal or human origin.
No Risk of disease or allergic reactions
Restylane and Perlane consist of stabilized hyaluronic acid and a sodium chloride solution with a pH of 7. All Restylane products are clear, transparent and viscous gels. The only difference between the products is the size of the gel particles. Larger particle formulations such as Perlane are used for deeper folds and augmentation. In contrast to other similar products, the hyaluronic acid in Restylane is not produced from animals. This means that there is no risk of disease being transmitted or allergic reactions being elicited if you are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken, and eggs.
Treatment with Restylane is a very quick and easy process. As no pre-test is needed, the treatment can be carried out immediately. A treatment generally takes 30 minutes. The time differs somewhat, depending on the correction you wish to have performed.
Most of our Orange County Restylane patients find the injections relatively painless. The Restylane products come with a built-in numbing component. Dr. Pilest will use a micro-cannula to place the filler. Since a microcannula is flexible and has a round tip, you barely feel the procedure. There may be a few ‘ouch” points, but most patients are surprised by the lack of pain.
The results can be seen immediately.
Immediately after receiving Restylane Orange County patients can expect slight redness, swelling, tenderness or an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. After a lip treatment, the lips may become swollen and look somewhat uneven. This can persist for a few days (up to a week). If the discomfort continues, please contact your physician.
after treatment instruction
Yes. During the first 48 hours after your Restylane treatment, do not massage or rub the treated area. If you have had a lip enhancement, avoid puckering your lips for the first two days after the treatment. Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. in a sauna or by sunbathing) or extreme cold.

Avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort and high doses of Vitamin E supplements one week prior to your Restylane procedure. This will help minimize any bruising or bleeding at the injection site.
Quite frequently our patients will have Dysport or Botox injections to soften the dynamic wrinkles caused by movement such as frowning or squinting or lip pursing. Using both products simultaneously results in a smooth, relaxed and younger appearance.
