Do you have thinning hair or a hairline that’s slowly creeping back? Want to do something about it but aren’t ready to try hair transplants just yet? If you answered yes to the above questions, you may be a great candidate for hair restoration for men, an innovative new treatment now available at Total Dermatology in Irvine. We strive to deliver the best hair restoration Irvine has to offer!
Hair restoration is a treatment that’s designed to help thicken thinning hair in men, as well as restart follicular growth. Hair rejuvenation is an excellent solution for clients who may be self-conscious about their hairline but may not need or want hair transplants. The ultimate goal for our Irvine hair restoration male patients, is to help you get back your thicker hair without requiring unnatural-looking plugs or expensive surgery.
At Total Dermatology, we divide Hair Rejuvenation into three distinct treatments:
You’re a good candidate for hair restoration if you have thinning hair or begin to see your hairline recede. Hair restoration is suitable for men who can still produce follicular growth; if you can’t, you may be a good candidate for hair transplantation.
A typical treatment usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the treatment site. If you’ve opted to take the supplements, they can be taken at home.
Results depend on each of our Orange County hair restoration patients; however, you should expect to see hair start to become thicker and fuller after three to six months of treatment. What’s more, this will be your natural hair, meaning you can tug on it, go swimming, and do all of the everyday things you’d otherwise do with your natural hair.
We love our patients at Total Dermatology! Read what our satisfied patients have to say about their experiences with Dr. Pilest and our team.

There’s no downtime associated with hair restoration treatments, so you don’t have to take any time off from work. However, if you opt for PRP Hair Loss Therapy, your scalp may be red and feel tender to the touch for the first several days after treatment.
Fortunately, hair restoration treatments are considered extremely safe. They are not right for everyone, however, and — like any medical treatment — they do carry minor adverse reactions. We will cover your complete medical history during your consultation, and you will be informed thoroughly of any potential risks related to your treatment. We want you to feel safe and comfortable throughout your treatment plan.
PRP Therapy— Risks include bleeding, minor pain, and redness during the procedure. Some patients report that their scalp feels “tight” or “full” in the hours following their treatment, and some people report headaches, although this is very rare.
ACell Hair Restoration— Similar to PRP therapy, ACell treatments sometimes cause minimal pain, minor bleeding, and discoloration. These effects are typically only experienced during the procedure. Following treatment, patients occasionally complain of a “tight” sensation in the treated area, and — in rare cases — mild headaches have been reported.
Nutrafol Supplements— The active ingredient in Nutrafol is biotin (also known as Vitamin B7) and is considered very safe for most hair rejuvenation patients. However, it should be used with caution if you have any bleeding conditions as it can make them worse. It is also possible for some Nutrafol ingredients to interfere with medical tests.
